Pros

The first store I worked at was the best job I've ever had. The team was like a family and they all worked hard to make sure everyone got the help they needed even if it wasn't in their department. The management was awesome and even after leaving the job I stayed in contact with them. The customers were better here than most places in retail. The customers are loyal to the company so you see a lot of the same people every day and really get to know them. I worked in the beauty department and as a beauty advisor we got free samples all of the time, sometimes even full size samples for free. It was very manageable since the store was small and there were not many employees, making it a good place to start out. You will almost always work your assigned hours and hardly ever stay passed your time, especially if you work at a 24 hour store, because they have strict policies against over time.

Cons

I've worked at multiple stores for Walgreens and noticed one thing they all had in common. They are very poor at training new employees. They do throw new employees in before they are ready to be on their own making it overwhelming for new people. However, if you have a good team in management it is going to be ok because they will help you every step of the way. They also understaff the pharmacy for the volume of customers they receive and even if you do not work in the pharmacy you will feel the effects of this in the form of customer complaints or lack of help in the front end of the store while back up is sent to pharmacy. If you want over time you can't get it, wasn't a problem for me but it could be for someone else.

Pros

The management is accommodating and doesn't ask of to much.

Cons

At one point the heat was out during the winter, but i'll say that this was only for about a week.

Pros

Can be a fun environment. All in whom your staff is. Operating photo was fun and building projects for the customers. Learning about pharmacy operations.

Cons

Work life balance and low pay for what is expected. Not having enough payroll to effectively run a store. My store ran FE on a 320 hour a week budget. That was barely enough to get buy and meet the expectations put out by the company. I was never able to keep a full leadership staff. When a leader called out, I had to stay. There were days I was called away from my own dinner table. SM's were forced to be in the pharmacy for more than half of their day regardless as to what is happening in the FE. I worked over 50 hours a week and barely got to spend time with my family. If I wasn't at the store I was getting a phone call and having to go back to the store.
