If you're a fit for the culture, VT can be a great place to work. - Interim Student Computing Resources Manager Virginia Tech Employee Review

Pros

State benefits for full-time employees, reasonable schedule and a generally pleasant work environment. Overall the culture (if you can fit in it) is friendly enough.

Cons

I'd start with the inside politics, it's often pretty opaque and hard to know where you stand with supervisors in certain positions, and PARKING. Also, the general BS maneuvering to get around the limitations imposed by the "affordable" care act makes it difficult to do meaningful part-time work, so the gap between part-time and full-time has grown.
