Pros

There is an opportunity to make a nice salary with all of the overtime offered to travel employees but that comes at a massive cost to your health.

Cons

Management has low opinion of field employees and uses them to the point they quit. They have no regard for physical or mental health. There is a complete and obvious lack of respect for field employees. Management does not understand the job of the technicians that work for them and expresses no interest in learning. Often times placing techs in jobs where they cannot do the work due the scope, weather, etc. Travel employees only receive a couple weeks of PTO more than non-travel employees. After traveling for 8+ weeks at a time your PTO requests (to go home) are considered vacation by management and requests are often not granted, even if you make your request months in advance. When pointing out safety and technical issues my concerns were often ignored. Their response was to cut corners and "just get the job done" at any cost. Employees deserve to have safety concerns taken seriously. Customers pay a premium for service and repairs and deserve better. There is a massive problem with the way Vestas recruits and promotes internal employees. They would rather keep strong field employees in the field until they quit or break. During the recruitment process I was not treated with the respect that I earned and deserved over the course of my six-year career with Vestas. After six years with Vestas I was broken down to the point I developed a severe mental health issue. I took short-term leave of absence for medical reasons and Vestas denied my disability claim because they do not acknowledge mental health as a valid medical condition -- no joke, this came from HR. Vestas is well aware of the uphill battle it is for employees to take them to court and bank on that. I took 3 months of unpaid leave and eventually quit rather than put myself into a toxic situation. No one deserves this level of abuse. Bottom line: if you value your health do not work for Vestas!

Pros

Vestas has been at the cutting edge of wind turbine technology for quite some time. They are industry leaders at the global level.

Cons

Culture has been eroding significantly over the past few years. Too many organizational changes, all with the focus on making the shareholders more 'happy,' to the detriment of the employees who have the actual ability to make the work happen. Profit is the only thing that matters at Vestas nowadays and, therefore, several regions that are seemingly less profitable than other are essentially left out to dry. There was always a huge amount of focus on the changing market characteristics, but nearly zero action to make internal changes, either to technology or commercial strategies, in order to improve competitiveness against other WTG OEMs.
