Pros

Very nice people, and a good management system. They are very friendly and you can feel they act like a family. I am just talking about Veeco San Jose. It was Ultrtech before and people still are friendly like in the old days. You can see lots of old people who act like your uncle or your dad and they help you in any situation. All higher managers respect the new employee and they try their best to make the situation comfortable for them. The whole environment is very good and the work-life balance is perfect. Nobody pushes you and you have the freedom to grow. I took more than 10 courses and they paid for all of them.

Cons

The only cons that they have is that they are too much friendly. For example an engineer can not work for more than two weeks and nobody says you should do something. This situation put pressure on other people who likes t work.

Pros

-Hiring seems egalitarian -The pay was fairly good -Occasional company lunches

Cons

-An endless parade of wasteful daily 30-minute meetings... two per day for some people -Very early hours are the norm; most employees start at 6:00-8:00 AM -The workforce is largely dull suburbanites, with 7-8 males for every female -The office has its fair share of unpleasant bully types. Rigid thinking and low education seem common as well. I suspect this is because Veeco has a big military recruitment program, and ever since it bought Ultratech (of San Jose, CA) back in 2017, MAGA types have become more common. It's probably no coincidence how in recent years, the San Jose branch's Glassdoor score has sunk down to near Veeco's national average.
