      Confusion on Direction - Senior Machine Learning Engineer Unity Employee Review

      Pros

      Team I was originally on was working on some cutting edge technology Seemed to have some legs with the professional services to bring in revenue while continuing to build a platform for a product offering

      Cons

      Within 6 months of my starting there was a reorg that killed the entire professional services we were working on and the product that went along with it. A couple months after that the team I was moved to was reorged again A couple of months after that the team I was on was reorged again I abandoned ship after this one. A couple months later I saw massive sweeping layoffs that likely would have included myself.

      Pros

      -Flexible WFH environment -Decent work life balance and good benefits for the US based employees

      Cons

      -CEO and CFO insist on being based in New York, when the Company is based in SF. Earnings calls are at 5:30am because screw you West Coast. -CFO will stop at nothing until all the G&A, Accounting, Tax, and, Finance team members are located in Bangalore in an effort to cut costs. Offshoring is massive here and will only continue to expand. -Constant anxiety about layoffs. Sometimes they announce mass layoffs, but more often do it in smaller waves so as to not rattle the cage. -Top heavy org structure. There's probably as many or more SVP, VPs, Sr. Dir level folks as there are individual contributors/leads.
