      Pros

I'm in my first week and everyone seems very professional, kind and willing to help.

      Cons

I can't think of anything new (first week). I can update here later.

      Very bad management

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Friendly coworkers, nice offices, good perks, people are generally very good technically

      Cons

Higher level management is defective. Too much emphasis on empty congratulations of how great everyone is (nobody cares, stop that). If I had a dollar for every time I heard 'real time 3d' or how great creators are, I would retire. Under the mask, everyone knows that these empty words don't serve the business. People need to engage toward a common goal. There is no vision in this company, you can't fill the void with empty words. A lot of infighting on the public chat, lot's of people that seem to not actually bring value to the company. People that actually bring value, they get their product sunset.

      Bad C-Suite with no visions

Jan. 28, 2023 - Anonymous Employee in Montreal, QC

      Business Outlook

      Pros

      - People here are passionate about building the best game technologies and supporting each other - Interesting projects that make direct impacts on game industry - Pay is better than most game studios - Flexible hybrid work mode

      Cons

      - Bad leadership. C-suite claimed they take full responsibility for the recent layoffs, but showed no accountability and did nothing - The C-suite don’t care about the employees. No vision and all they do is using the “metaverse” buzzword again and again. They just want to sell their shares asap before the U stock prices drop further - Poor communications. Our wellness benefits were cut on the same day of the layoff and the decision was announced via an email at night - Low morale due to the poor management and layoffs

People are great, senior management is disconnected

Feb. 22, 2023 - Senior Machine Learning Engineer in Montreal, QC

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Communication, chill, low pressure with nice results. Good environment

      Cons

Since the year and a half, the company changed focus for less bold projects, focus on ads and short-term goals. Many cool projects have been thrashed when they were almost finished. Unity's values means nothing to senior management.

Declining benefits, focus on profit over all else

Feb. 24, 2023 - Software Developer in Montreal, QC

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Free food in the office, generous leave policies.

      Cons

Limited sick leave, dwindling team budgets. Bad job security. The company has gotten actively worse to work for since I've been here. Unity has cut a number of benefits since their IPO. There's many indications from management that future job and benefit cuts are absolutely on the table. Pretty terrible sexism and no support from management around it.

Don't let the flashiness of Unity's brand and marketing get you.

      Pros

Cool Montreal office. Working in the games and RT3D space.

      Cons

This is an absolute mess for employee experience. Teammates finding out there's salary disparity on their team (and HR not working to make sure that salary parity is put at the forefront of hiring...), all the good managers leaving for other opportunities, leaving ones that are terrible behind to absolutely tank employee morale. Pay is NOT competitive with market, and those who had RSUs that got set when the stock was 3-digits, are all frustrated at their total comp packages. Leadership doesn't listen nor do anything to fix it. It's extremely convoluted to get promoted or to grow here... and the salaries aren't competitive. Company grew too quick, and has gone downhill fast as an employer in the last 2 years.
