It is a job! That is, if you happen to be working in a team whose end product and/or services are considered to be an important part of the business plan. Upper management predominantly not technical, suspicious of anyone with a technical track record.
Cons
Completely non-technical management in a company whose end-products and services are technical in nature. The management culture discriminates against anyone with suggestions that could be based on a technical basis. Be prepared to keep any technical experience in the closet, otherwise you are doomed in this company.
