Pros

I have spent several hours writing and editing this review because I want to give the fairest, most accurate depiction of working here. UCLA Events & Transportation (E&T) enjoys a moderate work-pace for the majority of the time, but it can change quickly. For some of the positions here, you can settle into your daily routine and be reasonably comfortable provided you dont make any waves. If you have any ambition to grow or improve, this is the wrong place for you. The hours are normally pretty fair and the benefits are centainly competitive for the area, although they are not as good for new employees as they are for those who have been there for more than 10 years.

Cons

The work-pace can at times be either excruciatingly slow or terrifyingly fast, and will change between these with no warning or reason. A project that had a two week deadline in the morning can be due tomorrow by that afternoon. By the same token, something you have spent hours developing as top priority can become utterly unimportant with no warning. Managements priorities are disorganized and very poorly communicated. Often projects would be started with lots of resources and need to get done quickly, and then would fall to the wayside days later when something shinier came along. The environment is very political and combative, especially at the mid- to upper-levels. There are several individuals that actively sabotage their subordinates and fellow employees to either better their position or cover up their own mistakes. The culture is VERY risk averse to the point where progress and improvements are often stalled just because of even a slight perceived risk. Despite claiming they're a data-driven group, senior management make decision based off of their own feelings or experience from decades ago and completely ignore any data that contradicts the decision they have already made. Overall, I would not recommend working here to anyone that is looking for growth or who likes to find new approches to the business.
