Pros
(Not client-facing) UBS has a fantastic work-life balance and family-friendly benefits to back it up. Every team and manager I’ve worked for has been very flexible with doctor’s appointments, child care emergencies, and work schedules to accommodate complicated circumstances. All in all, if you get your work done, you won’t have any issues. Highly recommend if you prioritize something outside of work - you’ll rarely be asked to work overtime if ever. You don’t get rewarded for working 24/7 like other banks. It’s just not the value of the Firm.
Cons
The Firm pays notoriously less than other banks. Recruiters will try to say they pay at or above market but it’s simply not true. However , as stated in the “Pros”, the real competitive advantage is the flexibility and work/life balance. The promotion structure is very outdated so you can’t expect to jump ranks each year. You may get a raise each year but there’s no policy or requirement to move employees “up the ranks,” especially since there aren’t very many.
