Pros

There are some nice people who have the misfortune to work for Truist

Cons

Very clique-ish middle management. If you aren’t from North Carolina, didn’t go to college with, and are not in the same sorority as your manager, you will be treated as an outsider - no matter how much experience you have or hire good you are at your job. You will never get promoted and you will be harassed. Ultra-conservative culture, outdated and entrenched processes that are totally inefficient. Making suggestions or disagreeing is totally frowned upon. Manager think they are cheerleaders and that they don’t have to have any product knowledge, remove obstacles or make decisions. All the pressure is on the knowledge workers. This is a backward, small town bank that is pretending that it can function as the sixth largest bank in the country. They need to expel all their leadership and start over with outsiders who never worked at BB&T (what Truist was before the merger). The treat smart, productive, independent thinkers like the enemy. I wouldn’t be surprised if this bank doesn’t make it.

Pros

Great benefits and pay with very good training programs, lots of opportunities for growth

Cons

The culture struggles to figure itself out after the big merger. Lots of senior employees were bitter about younger/new hires getting paid well. Lots of dealing with hierarchal mindsets that get in the way of the actual work.
