Pros

Tripadvisor is a fantastic place, I don’t really understand why people is leaving in batches. I feel I’ve made the worst mistake of my live by leaving a place where toxiticy has no place. Tripadvisor believes in transparency and employees in Dublin feel super encouraged to provide feedback, discussions are open and learning happens from mistakes. There is no retaliation for being honest and constructive. Leadership is one to none. You can really experience a well thought strategy in terms of product and target settings. They are extremly talented at recording fantastic motivational videos that everyone loves watching. Truly inspirational. You will get really nice pay checks because compensation package is fantastic. Forget about uncertenty when it comes to targets, they will always put employees first. Before changing targets and compensation there is always a good amount of reasearch and consideration on impact in employee satisfaction.

Cons

f you are ready to accept a job at Tripadvisor in Sales in either Dublin or Oxford breath, count to 10, get a camomille and maybe call one or two hotels that use the product. Say you are calling from Tripadvisor, you’ll understand quickly!

Thank you for your feedback. Given I turn to Glassdoor to understand how we can improve as an organization, it is unfortunate that the feedback you provided isn’t more constructive. Having been with TripAdvisor for over 6 years, I can say that we very much support core values that will help us grow professionally, personally, and financially. We believe in Transparency and share as much as we can with all of our teams. Sometimes the message isn’t ideal, but we are transparent. We encourage all employees to Never Stop Learning. With Learning, we encourage mistakes, given mistakes are often how people learn best. And we believe Speed Wins, which means we move quickly, understand what has gone well or poorly, and adjust from these learnings – so that we are continually improving. Our company and culture is not for everyone. It takes a resilient, smart, and adaptable person to thrive within TripAdvisor. With that, I look at the Dublin and Oxford team and see many on the sales team that have these traits. I look forward to building on that in both locations as our team grows. If you have time, I am more than happy to speak with you about your posting to better understand how you think we can improve as an organization. Thank you. -Sam Thompson, Regional Director of Inside Sales

Pros

The people you get to work with are genuinely great, and the work-life balance remains fairly solid. In the past, the company attracted top-tier engineering talent from the most reputable tech firms, and the expectations were high but rewarding. A lot of that collaborative culture still exists among the engineers. You will be surrounded by capable individuals who want to do good work.

Cons

The company has been battered by unresolved structural issues over the last decade. The core meta-search business was crippled when Google altered its algorithms to prioritize its own travel products, effectively choking off the organic traffic Tripadvisor depended on. Combined with the impact of COVID-19, leadership tried launching new products to escape this SEO reliance, but those attempts consistently missed the mark. Now, the rapid adoption of LLMs is delivering another severe blow. Users no longer need traditional meta-search to plan travel. The core Tripadvisor product has essentially become a legacy cash cow, with the Experiences division (Viator) being the primary engine keeping the business afloat. Following the departure of the former CEO, thousands of highly skilled employees have left through attrition or ongoing restructuring. Layoffs have become a grim constant, happening once or twice a year. Even if you manage to avoid the cuts, the compensation structure is no longer competitive for the tech industry, and RSUs have virtually dried up. Because of the abysmal direction and the very high chance you won't survive the next round of looming layoffs, I strongly recommend avoiding this company as a new hire.
