Pros

You get a drink bottle and a shocking corduroy hat upon starting. Indies team is a vibe, great young team who enjoy coming to work and are collaborative. Marketing team also thinly spread but doing a great job. Working for a company that has a sustainable and ethical vision. That’s about it.

Cons

New to Australia and in theory a fantastic initiative and company that ticks all the right boxes. 1million users without any above the line marketing is amazing. What’s not amazing is the severe lack of leadership throughout the whole business. Senior management in the country is spread severely thin which created a vacuum where other not so senior managers with little experience take it upon themselves to rule the roost and lead without any previous management experience or nous. They also possess very limited emotional intelligence which makes one on one meetings almost impossible to humanly connect. There is barely any corporate infrastructure apart from the bare minimum. I got there and they were using spreadsheets and now operate extremely poorly on Salesforce with subpar explanations trickling down from HQ. No one really seemed to understand how to work an account and they still don’t, referencing spreadsheets even on my last day. Too much time spent on statistics that the merchant or company don’t care about, bottom line was the most important thing- not how many kgs of cow dung they could have potentially saved by not throwing out three donuts at a kiosk located in a suburb that no one has heard about. Pay is below market rate and their commission structure is a joke. It wasn’t even in place for my first three months. Don’t work here if you want to make money.

Pros

The mission used to feel genuinely meaningful. In the early years, the team was passionate, supportive, and full of people who truly cared about each other and their work. Those relationships were and always have been the best part of the job.

Cons

Leadership has completely derailed the company’s culture and lost touch with what made Too Good To Go meaningful in the first place. The head of Key Accounts is known for belittling other employees and creating a fear-based environment that has driven people out in waves. It’s disheartening to see great people leave and directly cite this person as the reason, while senior leadership continues to turn a blind eye. Feedback is neither welcomed nor acted upon, and the people who remain are either too burned out to care or too afraid to speak up. In recent years, decisions have been driven by ego and short-term metrics rather than trust or long-term vision. Communication is inconsistent, priorities shift weekly, and there is very little transparency — especially around compensation. Raises of 1% or less are standard, even with strong performance, which further reinforces how undervalued employees have become.
