Misogynistic CEO, no culture, abrupt layoffs, you will regret working here. - Anonymous employee Thinkingbox Employee Review

Pros

The people who work at the company, dogs in the office.cc

Cons

Where do I begin. The CEO spends insane money on the physical office, putting the look of the minimalist, all black and white (think classic movie villain) interior above the actual quality, comfortability, longevity, and functionality of everything. Meanwhile pay is low, time off is difficult to get approved, we don't have the tools we need to do our jobs (like analytics and technical software that would speed up and improve our work, reduce mistakes, and waste less time and money), and a lot of people were just laid off with no warning, and there are rumours of future layoffs to come. The CEO constantly yells at people, bad-mouths clients and employees behind their backs and sometimes to their faces without thought, consideration, or apology. Employees are visibly (and verbally) uncomfortable when he is around. The projects are arduous and we over-promise and under-deliver on just about every one of them. We are overworked, unsupported, and tired of the smoke and mirrors that is this company. Expensive and arduous workshops were held at the office for all teams, at the end of which we were told that all employees would receive far better benefits like unlimited vacation, social events, and DEI improvement. But then after an abrupt Monday morning Zoom meeting a week or two later, where the CEO clumsily stumbled through a speech where he said those in charge had taken a whole two weeks to think through layoffs before going ahead with them, a good chunk of the workforce was suddenly sent home for good, leaving the rest of us to pick up the pieces alone. There was no real detail in the call, and no questions were taken or answered. Which is classic for this company and its leadership. The lay-off was tactless and cruel. Knowing the CEO, he will be patting himself on the back for "doing the right thing" but what he actually has done is create an environment of discomfort and fear. I have never worked somewhere so unprofessional and my whole team is now looking for new jobs as we suspect there will be more layoff rounds, and frankly, we're done with this place and its leadership.

Pros

I came to Thinkingbox by way of a merger and my talents were immediately noticed. I was able to grow my career quickly and found a place that allowed me to take advantage of my strengths and build a stronger team. We have been able to grow our business with direct brands and it's been rewarding to do so. While growth comes with its own challenges and no company is perfect my time here has created a unique learning experience and a great opportunity for me to advance my career.

Cons

Connecting with teammates across offices can be tricky and the growth mentality can make it tricky to keep priorities straight.
