Pros

The work is genuinely interesting. You’ll be seeing really beautiful pieces of jewelry. And if you’re looking to sharpen your Gemological skills the experience is excellent. You’ll be working on everything from High Jewelry to plated costume. The company does provide a very good level of free snack and beverages, and will do nice things like occasionally order pizza for lunch.

Cons

This place isn’t for everyone. The training is horrible. The 360 learning consists of watching or reading material that can take several minutes to 30 mins to complete; you are asked 3-5 questions and from there you are expected to remember dozens of steps and procedures. You are discouraged from asking your colleagues because everyone is chasing their daily goal. Which brings me to the goal. You are daily reminded of your goal. I understand that companies want productive employees but the goal is so challenging that most people don’t achieve it. And just in case you aren’t keeping track of you number there’s a digital Leader board on the wall which provides the daily totals of all the Specialists. There’s constant turnover. At least 2 people a month resign from this place. And management doesn’t make any announcements. You’ll just know because the desk has been empty for a week.

Pros

Pay and commission can be good, but the structure is unnecessarily convoluted and not as generous as it seems, and you will have no work/life balance if you want to actually make consistently high commission. If you have a true passion for luxury and fashion, you do get a lot of opportunities to handle and interact with special/rare items, and depending on store location you can meet a lot of interesting industry people and celebrities, especially during Fashion Weeks

Cons

Poor and unsupportive management with extremely unrealistic demands and expectations; you will get virtually no training, but are immediately expected to know how to do everything. The overall company culture is just unpleasant and very cliquey, and there's constant employee turnover. The online customer service system is terrible, so you will frequently have to handle customer issues that have nothing to do with you/your sales.
