Pros

Good employee discount for clothes and especially spa services. Many of the employees are very nice people. People in the spa can make good money.

Cons

The Met is owned by a husband and wife duo. These two are what makes The Met a miserable work environment. The wife is absolutely horrible to every person she meets, is so negative and even speaks poorly about the clients that shop in her store, the very people who allow her to wear her $1,200 Etro blouse. The husband is a hard worker and is the reason the company has been remotely successful. He is a push-over and allows certain employees to walk all over him. Most of the employees in the building, especially on the sales floor are miserable and despise the people they work for. It is very sad. Clients often comment on the negative feeling atmosphere. There is no opportunity to grow in this company and the company itself remains stagnant.

The Met Response
8y
Anonymous, The Met has employed an average of 45 people for 17 years. Our turn-over rates are far better than the industry standards. We are certainly aware that we can't make all people happy all the time. It is clear you (anonymous) were not happy with your employment, however your comments are your opinion. We are often "thanked" for the opportunities for success that we have provided. Unfortunately your personal experience was not the same as many employees who have been with us for more than 10 years. Perhaps if you had addressed these issues in person, you might have a better understanding of the big picture. Anonymous personal attacks are certainly sad. I would welcome you to have the courage to address relationships in person. Personally, I am proud of what we have built and what we have done for the community. We are also grateful for what the community has done for us, and often show that appreciation charitably and publically. I certainly hope your employment pursuits with other employers find you happiness. Geoffrey Michel

Pros

Great benefits and tuition assistance. You get to be around an interesting collection of art and history.

Cons

They don't pay you enough to live anywhere close to work so the commute is sure to grind away at you if you have to work onsite. If you don't have another means of income, you'll be constantly in debt. Stuff rolls downhill.
