Wonderful diversity networks to provide fellowship and a sense of worth that you CANNOT gain doing you full time job.
Cons
Non-white employees experience a harder time advancing to associate levels within the company. A lot are treated as diversity hires and often are ignored or discounted by their respective teams. Often times many watch new external (less qualified) external candidates be hired above them.
