Pros

Large engineering autonomy for technical decisions - engineers function both as product and engineers. Not sure what it looks like now though

Cons

Company direction has always felt a bit ambiguous, there's very little transparency from leadership, lots of goal-post moving, and a very toxic culture where people are vying for accolades and praise instead of fostering collaboration and growth and genuine progress

Pros

The thoughtful, intelligent people (what's left at them, considering there was two rounds of layoffs). The remote-first culture was the best perk, and working alongside talented, capable, driven individuals made this company a stand out. The initial vision of the company to disrupt and innovate an archaic industry truly felt like you were on a team with great purpose.

Cons

Red flag after red flag that kept compounding during my time there. While it is normal for priorities and technologies to shift at a start-up, Sure's longterm vision, for lack of a better word, absolutely lost the plot. During my time at Sure, it became apparent that Sure's methodology is throwing "stuff" (using a more civilized word in lieu of what I really want to say) at the wall and seeing what sticks, whether it be technology or partnerships. I can barely recognize what the company has become. There's been a really big push for AI-first solutions, effectively letting go of a large majority of the company who helped build it up. It's even more insane that they are still hiring amidst the 2nd layoff. As many reviews have echoed, I have no idea what's keeping Sure's lights on at this point. If you are thinking of applying, even out of desperation for the job market's current conditions, DON'T. Value yourself and your time more, avoid this sinking ship at all costs! You don't want to be around when this dumpster fire implodes.
