Pros

Medtech experience if you have none

Cons

Ridiculously non-competitive pay (if you're R&D, Engineering, Quality etc set your expectations very low). Their expectation is you should reap no rewards for working really hard and be happy about it. You will have to dedicate your life to Stryker, otherwise if you're not answering calls until midnight and sucking up to your manager and leadership there is no chance you can ever get ahead. Its a very parochial and elitist organisation with HR and leadership very focused on initiatives that are in-vogue in the media (like Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) which would be great if the internal culture was already one of fairness and work-life balance, but it is not. I would highly recommend to avoid this company unless you are new out of college and need experience, otherwise, there is so much better out there. They are a very superficial company who cares more about ensuring they appear good to the outside world and their stakeholders, instead of doing right by their employees. Fundamentally, the mission is a marketing tool as opposed to a reality.

Pros

The individual contributors you work with are fantastic people and the products we work on are really interesting and have significant impacts on patient care.

Cons

Sports Medicine has unfortunately changed from a dynamic and collaborative group to one being led by toxic leadership. Rather than working together and trusting team members, they now have an in group and out group. If you’re in the in group, you can say anything you want without being questioned and be automatically trusted even when your track record says otherwise. If you’re in the out group and your message doesn’t align with what the leadership wants to hear, then you are automatically wrong and not to be trusted.
