Pros

Customers you sell to are awesome , they become long time friends.

Cons

Poor management - managers are not promoted based on merit or experience , they are promoted based on how close they are to senior leaders. Human Resources isn’t there to help if you have issues. If you seek help, they will dissolve of the issue by telling you there is no issue . Only approach them if you need information about benefits because other than that , they are pretty much worthless. Awful culture - Its a frat house. The culture is made up of frustrated athletes who are disrespectful and have terrible attitudes. Some sales reps are completely unethical and consume drugs but management will not act if they are high performers. Sales rep hours ? - You are pretty much a slave. There is no work life balance and no one cares if you look like you haven’t slept in 2 months. You are encouraged to work like an animal and senior reps will abuse you and force you to work while they are at home drinking wine on a Thursday night. No on-boarding sales training. For a company that owns most of the orthopedic market, there is little no to training for new talent. New sales reps learn on the go. Managers throw reps into cases on their first day even if they have no clue of what they are doing. How does an orthopedic company send a new associate to cover high level surgeries ? Surgeries that have a huge impact an people’s lives ? It’s because they don’t care about the patients ! They only care about the day to day transactions and preserving their bottom line!

Pros

The individual contributors you work with are fantastic people and the products we work on are really interesting and have significant impacts on patient care.

Cons

Sports Medicine has unfortunately changed from a dynamic and collaborative group to one being led by toxic leadership. Rather than working together and trusting team members, they now have an in group and out group. If you’re in the in group, you can say anything you want without being questioned and be automatically trusted even when your track record says otherwise. If you’re in the out group and your message doesn’t align with what the leadership wants to hear, then you are automatically wrong and not to be trusted.
