Pros
Good pay Nice retail staff Honest
Cons
My experience was unique. I was hired and promptly got fired after two weeks because I wasn't the right fit for the company, in which they literally said it wasn't a performance issue. The fact that we can fire people in this country just because we don't like them is insane to me. They made me leave like a criminal whilst customers were in store. The management actually made my life miserable. In the first week I had a sort of performance review in which they told me (paraphrasing) that I wasn't meeting expectations; that they give bonuses to high performing achievers but that I wasn't one of them. ????? I just wanted my first pay check, not a bonus. I had no moments to sit, even when tasks that could've been performed sitting. I would go home with swollen ankles and feet. That wasn't so bad because it was retail, but the management was so nit-picky, strict and miserable. The optometrist asked me to hurry up as I was too slow (new equipment = needs more training time), I didn't respond as I was doing my best and I was overwhelmed and she got frustrated. I was told to go on break at 12.27, I asked to go at 12.30 as it was easier for me to keep an eye on time, and they said no go now. Likewise when I would ask if I could go on a break later they say no you must go now. Lastly, I asked to go on break by a management member after I quickly go to the toilet, in which I was told that I should go during my break. There is no sense of flexibility or empathy in this team and I regret the two weeks I spent there. I DO NOT RECOMMEND WORKING HERE!! Save yourself the trouble and pain. I truly hope nobody else had this experience because it truly was heartbreaking.
