Pros

-- The culture is generally very respectful; this is not a company where people treat one another in a rude or disrespectful manner.

Cons

-- I have never been so micromanaged in my entire career as I was at this company. This is not a company where you will have any autonomy. -- The flagship product is a catastrophe of poor design and it is only being improved in the slowest, most incremental fashion. There is a lot of firefighting here. Your time will be spent cleaning up messes, not expanding your skills and doing cool things with technology. -- Slack is (mis)used in an extremely distracting way. It is difficult to concentrate because of all of the channels and posts, etc.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your comments related to SofterWare maintaining a respectful atmosphere. That said, we’re sorry to hear about how you felt during your working experience at SofterWare. One of the reasons we've been named as a Top Workplaces in Philadelphia 8 times in the last decade is because we take feedback from our staff very seriously. We’re not sure when you left the organization, but SofterWare has invested several million dollars on improvements to our development team in the last year. Our new VP of Development, Mike Baker, spent his first 6 months listening to the team, customers, and other staff members, then laid out a comprehensive strategy for growth and change. We’ve increased the size of the development team by hiring 10 additional staff members and the feedback from them has been very well received. We offer exciting opportunities to work with new technologies, in addition to paid professional training so our development team can stay current with their skill set. Part of the respectful atmosphere you identified includes respecting the professionalism of our staff, so if you experienced “micromanagement”, that is not normal for us. We encourage all staff to share this feedback in their monthly one-on-ones, or with senior management at any time so we can address those issues and ensure mutual satisfaction. This includes the use of Slack, which we encourage people to use since we’re a fully remote organization with staff all over North America. That said, when you need quiet time to work, a simple “Do Not Disturb” is both encouraged and respected. As for our quality of flagship product, we retain approximately 93% of our clients, and add over 1200 new clients each year. It's a much loved solution that is always adapting and growing, and our development team helps ensure its stability, while adapting it to the latest technology and adding new features. This product, focused on the nonprofit sector, has helped nonprofits raise over $100 billion, and brings great intrinsic satisfaction to our team. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback, and we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors. Sincerely, Lauren Sheehan, President

Pros

Excellent positive company culture that values work life balance and transparency. Even as an intern they immediately let me know what the different positions earned at my first 1-on-1. Despite only being an intern, I always felt respected and that people cared about what I had to say during meetings and when giving critiques.

Cons

Only con I can think of is that if you don't like being fully remote then this won't be the company for you
