Pros

Opportunities to get experience helping other individuals in the organization as well as gain exposure to other functions. Good potential for those without high level of education or experience.

Cons

Depending on the particular office there may be a gross disconnect between compensation, promotion, and quality of work. For various reasons poor employees were rewarded and good employees were not, which ultimately encouraged many good employees to leave

Pros

The work gets easier over time and you get used to the calls and questions but training came more from the calls then the actual training that you get before you start the position

Cons

Metrics are crazy. They expect very short calls but most callers are calling because something serious or tragic has happened and they are reporting the incident. Its difficult to keep the calls short with someone that is freaking out and feels like they need to get every detail. Also people quit often and that leads to calls back to back with barely any breaks to just take a breather.
