Salary is not competitive and does not change with the economy. No performance reviews or raises for several years. Got promoted? Great, you have a new fancy title... the catch? Your salary stays the same despite the added responsibilities that middle management will obstruct you from accomplishing. No career opportunities, and training / conferences / seminars are always "not within budget", though YMMV depending on supervisor. Some people are luckier than others. Late or no communication from middle management to individual contributors regarding delivery date changes, resource allocation changes, or new hires (if lucky) Outlook for company is diminishing year by year; every financially-fueled decision has crippled the company in one department or another, and the people on the ground are suffering death by a thousand paper cuts. No product strategy or roadmap; the attempts at it so far are not communicated or are immediately trumped by customer commits. Product progress reports get more distorted the higher they go; it's a serious game of telephone. Executive level management is a revolving door of faces, so don't bother learning them. There's very little diversity, especially in the higher levels.
