Pros

The pay is decent. Cashiers tend to be busy at all times, which may appear to make time pass more quickly.

Cons

Cashiers are constantly nagged to sell PLUS upgrades. We are not allowed, however, to refer to ourselves as "selling" anything, nor are we allowed to call the upgrade an "upgrade." My managers come up with hokey titles such as "bunnies" and "ponies." We are also constantly pressured to sell credit cards with outrageous interest rates, which is something that personally bothers me. I do understand that these are both things that were in my job description when I accepted the job, but I didn't know I would be threatened with write-ups because people decline these things. I have had two "one-on-ones" where I have been coached about my performance, and I have only worked at SAM'S for three weeks. One of my supervisors confessed to me that we are harassed to sell upgrades because of the bonus checks management receives. I was never given any guidance on how to sell upgrades. I have only been told to "develop my own strategy." It is worth mentioning that this is a sale's position with absolutely NO commission. On top of everything else, 90% of the people in management act like they are simply overgrown children who never learned how to play nice at recess.

Pros

The pay is good and so are the benefits.

Cons

This is the worst job I have ever had. I made it 3 weeks before leaving and never coming back. They had me working 12 hour shifts when I was scheduled for 8 but couldn’t leave because I wasn’t finished with the large workload they piled on me. There was absolutely no teamwork, our manager just abandoned us so they could go hang out with their friends. There was no organization, no structure. 100% sure my manager never even knew my name. They had us breaking down pallets just to restack them. There are no consequences for management at all, they can basically do whatever they want and nobody is gonna do anything to stop it. If they're short they throw you into different departments with no training.
