Cons

My experience with this company was extremely disappointing due to clear favoritism from management. It became evident that certain employees were consistently given preferential treatment, receiving better opportunities and recognition regardless of their activity input which we are closely monitored on, or performance. This created a toxic work environment where hard work felt irrelevant, and it was discouraging to see the same one or two colleagues rewarded or praised for minimal effort. Management’s lack of transparency and fairness made it difficult to stay motivated, despite my desire to succeed or to feel valued. I would not recommend this company to anyone who values equality or professional growth. HR sides with managers before considering employees’ perspectives and will protect managers at all costs and not care about other employees. This only added to the frustration as you can see from previous reviews , lot of people feel the same . Despite the company’s claims about prioritising mental health, they fail to support employees unless they are top billers which contradicts their stated values. My manager would regularly swear at individuals as well as generally around the office. Most of the team are unhappy yet don’t voice it as they don’t want to deal with their anger from the manager not a nice environment to work in. I strongly advise against working here. Most of the employees are either family members or friends outside of work before, would avoid at all costs.

Pros

* Different Brands operating within the umbrella of the STR Group and each Brand works as its own team with its own directorship - this means there is a team suitable for everyone as all run differently * urban - the brand I sit within is superb, totally people centric and really value and appreciate their staff. They are flexible, adaptable and put us first which just makes you just want to perform better so win-win! * Having started during the pandemic, their CoVID policies and measures I feel have been excellent as well as adapting to on boarding and delivering training, coaching and team meetings virtually. * Its fun, genuinely KPIs are not a focus. They are there (obviously) as minimum expectations but they value far higher the quality of your work and the results you achieve than numbers for numbers sake which is TOTALLY different to the majority if not all other recruitment businesses. * The team are great and a diverse mix of characters, ages, personalities and backgrounds * Very inclusive approach - as a Mother with occasional childcare issues they have been understanding, helpful and reassuring as well as reminding me that they value 'family first' mentality not just by words but by their actions. * Offer a hybrid working environment - a mix of home and office. The office is lovely, spacious, clean and inviting. * Great Business opportunities, urban are an industry leader in the architectural and interior design recruitment field and as such you benefit from established relationships and excellent in house knowledge and expertise * Team players. Any experienced recruiters will know that normally its 'dog eat dog' even in house you can often be pit against each other to 'win' the business or make a placement. urban / STR are all about working together, helping and supporting each other. * Recognition - Every month they recognise not only top performers but top employees who add value to the business in a variety of ways which is a great and you get to hear about other brands successes too. * Board Directors all speak to you on a level rather than as your superior, enhancing that feel that you really are all a team together. * Professional yet super friendly and super fun - the perfect balance * Given a clear 5 years progression plan based on realistic business and individual potential * Competitive salary and benefits - great commission structure which sees consultants earning very well every single month.

Cons

The only negative I can think of which isn't really an issue as it was sorted immediately was having an issue with my international number which occasionally cut out when working from home. This was a remote working teething issue though and was looked into immediately by a number of senior staff to rectify the issue. I wish I had some thing else to balance out this review but I honestly can't think of anything negative about my experience so far. I had been concerned about previous reviews when I interviewed for the role and with a number of offers from other recruiters was hesitant in accepting the role to start here. I have not for a second regretted my decision, other than wishing I'd started sooner.
