Pros

The benefits of working at Rutter Mills were pretty good. They matched your 401k up to 5% contribution, PTO policy was pretty good (I can't remember exactly how much at this point but it was at least two weeks), & health insurance was OK (offered multiple plans to choose from and you had to pay for it). Brother Rutter is a very kind boss and is also very generous. He offers opportunities throughout the year for trips and firm-wide events outside the office. Rutter Mills spends a lot of $$$ on advertising, so everyone in the area knows the name. I was proud to tell people that I worked there. There are some very nice people who work there, and some of the employees I now consider to be great friends, to this day. I learned a lot from working here and I still use skills I learned here.

Cons

The actual pay itself was lackluster. Even with "incentives," employees barely make enough to get by. Eventually, the work environment became toxic, making the low pay not worth staying anymore. The place has a lot of nice, friendly people working there, but that does not apply to everyone. But that's every work environment.

Pros

This is a great job if you’re interested in litigation. It’s fast-paced, so there’s always something going on and a lot to learn. Hard work is definitely noticed and rewarded, which makes you feel valued. The team environment is great—everyone is supportive and easy to work with. The schedule is flexible, and there are plenty of perks that make employees feel included and appreciated. Management and Brother Rutter are fair and approachable, which really helps with the day to day. Overall, it’s a really rewarding role, especially if you enjoy helping people. It’s a great place for someone who stays focused, works hard, and wants to be part of growing firm.

Cons

Like most jobs, there are some cons. For me, I would like the firm to offer a few more benefits such as dental insurance and Short-Term Disability. Also, the fast-paced environment can be challenging at times, especially when managing multiple deadlines and priorities. It may take some time to adjust and get fully comfortable in the role. Like many litigation positions, the workload can fluctuate depending on case demands, but overall, it’s a manageable and rewarding experience once you get into a rhythm.

Pros

I began my career at Rutter Mills 18 years ago as a legal assistant, where I discovered a true passion for helping clients. After exploring opportunities at two local firms, I realized how much I missed the strong sense of community, values, and client-focused approach that make Rutter Mills unique. I’m grateful to be back “home,” part of an exceptional team, and excited to continue growing while serving our clients with compassion and dedication.

Cons

Nothing to mention at all
