Pros

Good pay for those that survive layoffs

Cons

This place is the epitome of what is wrong with politics. Lazy, top-heavy leadership making a combined total of $750k a year while laying off their underpaid unionized staff. Great mission, and I wish they were capable of learning from their mistakes so that they could better support young candidates running for state and local office. But run for something is just an ego-project for the executive team.

Very organized and hands on helping. Recurring and new projects throughout the entirety of internship

Once internship is over, no room for extension or employment.

Pros

4 day work week is nice. Work place culture when I was there was generally friendly and supportive. Many employees were genuinely committed to the mission and progressive politics. Salaries are good for the sector.

Cons

Organization is very hierarchical, particularly so for a non-profit, senior leadership simultaneously wants to micromanage employees but will give ever changing direction on programming. There is mission creep, seems that the org is trying to balance the original mission of recruiting/electing young progressives and trying to fundraise/keep the org relevant on social media. Benefits could be a bit better, with more coverage on family/dependent health insurance and a 401k match. Be wary about accepting a job here, it is not a long-term job with all the leadership and financial instability. Org is very top heavy with senior and exec leadership, seems to be a waste of money. The 4DWW attracts some employees who are more interested in their own side hustles than doing the work needed for progressive politics.
