Pros

Well, It was a remarkable experience; everyone makes you feel like you belong to a great organization and welcomes you, even without knowing you. However, it is also expected that you rise to the occasion. In Ecuador, it is uncommon to have the opportunity to work for large pharmaceutical companies, which is why I deeply value having had this experience. You learn a great deal about the business, its structure, corporate values, and global vision through its organizational culture. Without a doubt, I would apply again if the opportunity arises.

Cons

Perhaps the only drawback I can identify, despite the many advantages of being part of the organization, is the lack of opportunity for interns to advance within the company to a new position. What I mean is that the internship contract has a fixed end date with no possibility of renewal, regardless of how high your performance evaluations from your supervisors might be. However, this is primarily due to local labor regulations.

Roche Response

Our culture is an essential element for our organization and we’re constantly evolving to provide a place where everyone feels valued and inspired to grow to their best potential. By knocking down walls and working without borders, we create a connected environment in which our people can share the knowledge, resources, and expertise needed to help people live longer, healthier lives. This allows us as to bring medicines and diagnostic solutions more quickly to the patients who are counting on us. At Roche, we view career development as a journey that often involves multiple paths. Upward mobility is one path. Embracing opportunities to broaden skills and experiences across the business, or exploring new possibilities are alternative paths. Ultimately, individuals are responsible for their own career, but we provide the tools and a workplace where the job description does not define who you are. Rather, it serves as the starting point for your career journey. Our interns and internships are meant to help those who are earlier in their careers to gain insights into selected departments and to learn to apply the theoretical knowledge they’ve gained during their studies. We recognize all experiences are different and are constantly working to evolve these programs.

Pros

Excellent Employee Benefits and beautiful facilities

Cons

As a seasoned quality professional I could not recommend enough that you stay far away from this company. The entire Global Quality program is run on gaslighting. Procedures are vague and cryptic and the management solution is always to just copy and paste from another site. You will be told to "speak up" and its an open and collaborative environment, but that could not be further from the truth. Roche is a toxic environment that is run by cliques that pick and choose who gets to succeed. If you dare to speak up you're targeted and ostracized. If you want to succeed there you just need to nod head in agreement and try to follow the cryptic task that is gonna set you up for failure anyway. Success is completely contingent on how well you gossip and politic. The "Branchberg Mafia" is run on emotions and direction will change day to day depending on how leadership feels that day. Again I recommend looking somewhere else if you're looking to make an impact and enjoy a challenge. If you enjoy being a sheep or like weak and emotional management. This is the place for you.
