Pros

Good people, good corporate ambition to improve sustainability in the world, flexible work environment, good benefits, pro diversity equality and inclusion mentality

Cons

Changing culture, good people being let go, driven by the bottom line to resell after private equity firm purchase 2 years ago, not loyal to employees, little to no upward mobility/succession planning - just hire from outside for key jobs and succession roles

Pros

The shift supervisor role consists of busy days with a lot of varying priorities. You are responsible for emissions regulation, work permits, specialized permits, managing changing plant conditions, and administrative personnel requirements. This can be a high-octane role but has a more relaxed period on night shift and when outages aren't occurring (planned shutdowns for maintenance). Expect to drive plant performance and employee development. Many opportunities for professional and personal development if you put the time in.

Cons

The plant culture will play a huge role in your quality of life, since most of your time will be at the plant. This can be good or bad. Quite a few managers do not engage or develop personnel due to various qualities. You will have to do the leg work in fostering a change for personnel development.
