Pros

With the new CEO there was a small drive towards making employee voices heard and making positive changes to the culture.

Cons

Culture that focuses on rewarding middle management and above. Focus on bringing in their pals to manage large corporate contracts without a proper review of companies that could best do the work. CIO focuses on outsourcing the work at the detriment of employee morale, servicing the employees at the company and sits in his office all day without facing the actual people who's jobs he's successfully eliminated. He's moved company to company using the same outsourcing firm that's failed at the task of execution and has been kicked out since they couldn't perform. Management doesn't recognize poor employee performance and there's been poor performers there for years without any change. Management doesn't work to drive a positive company culture instead focusing on anything else that can help the bottom line (i.e. Cost cutting, job elimination, etc) Steer clear of this company unless you just want to be another cog in the machine, they push and reward mediocrity instead of rewarding top performers.

Pros

The shift supervisor role consists of busy days with a lot of varying priorities. You are responsible for emissions regulation, work permits, specialized permits, managing changing plant conditions, and administrative personnel requirements. This can be a high-octane role but has a more relaxed period on night shift and when outages aren't occurring (planned shutdowns for maintenance). Expect to drive plant performance and employee development. Many opportunities for professional and personal development if you put the time in.

Cons

The plant culture will play a huge role in your quality of life, since most of your time will be at the plant. This can be good or bad. Quite a few managers do not engage or develop personnel due to various qualities. You will have to do the leg work in fostering a change for personnel development.
