Pros

-It's an international school so you get a decent amount of time off in winter and summer, with national holidays thrown in. -The healthcare is great. -The campus has a nice bird life.

Cons

-The company can break the contract and not suffer any consequences (e.g. they can change the terms) -SLT never seem to be on the side of teachers. They are constantly offloading more and more work for teachers to do -There are no processes that are documented and that teachers have access to. It feels like you're reinventing the wheel every time something has to be done. -The salary and benefits are lower than many of the other "top" schools in Dubai, despite having some of the highest fees. -The school as a whole has a culture of reactionary policy rather than preventative. -The HR department is a nightmare and anything you need to be done through them requires about 10 meetings and you'll still never get what you need. -There is no behavioural policy in place that helps classroom teachers deal with some of the more challenging children. In fact, teachers are often told to deal with problems within their department rather than give behaviour slips just so management doesn't have to deal with it. -Work/life balance is completely off-kilter. Be expected to work long hours and not even be acknowledged for that, let alone paid. -Accommodation is subpar and in a part of the city that's far from everything else.

Pros

There is no good reason to work at Repton School.

Cons

Salaries are advertised as competitive but pay is minimal, especially considering the additional hours you are expected to work - no time in lieu given. No flexible working, even if your role is completely do-able from home, you will be looked upon unfavourably for even suggesting it. Not a positive workplace culture - employees are burnt out and undervalued. No career progression or advancement. Very poor benefits - holiday entitlement is decent, but you can only take it during certain times and there is NO movement on this. Morale incredibly low. Blame culture. Staff scared of the Head. Zero investment in staff, unless you’re a teacher. Huge disparity between teaching and non-teaching staff. Senior leadership are unsupportive and uninterested. The turnover speaks for itself, several colleagues have left or are signed off with workplace stress. Repton does not live up to it’s reputation at all. Do not be fooled.
