Easily the worst place I have ever worked - Account Manager Red Spot Interactive Employee Review

Pros

It was a job when I wanted a change.

Cons

I worked as an account manager there. You get paid a below average salary but they sell you on the commission and the "opportunity" of a start up. The commission structure is a JOKE! We almost never reach our bonus, you're pressured to work long hours. Even the few good senior managers they had were fired because they didn't tell the CEO what he wanted to hear. I burnt out in less than a year and gave my notice, only to be fired 4 hours later. The company has no technical competitive advantages, they sell vaporware to their customers under 12 month contracts. Be prepared to be yelled at by customers all day, be over worked with very little training, current managers have no real experience in the industry and are just a mouthpiece to the CEO who doesn't know up from down. Reputation management technology does not exist, targeted email marketing does not exist. We sold technology for 12 months before technical specs were even written to build the technology. Co-workers would go home and cry from all of the job stress. Both of the "Senior Account Managers" that were there when I left had no experience with marketing or advertising.

Pros

I worked here for 21 months and this is what I think: The Job: It is stressful. It is busy. If you want something easy and just watch the clock, this is not the place for you. However, if you want to learn and grow your knowledge on: Website, Search Engine, Content, Email, Online and Retention Marketing, this is the place to be. The People I worked with: Amazing, Talented, Creative and Extremely intelligent. They all know and breathe Marketing, so bring your A game! The hiring staff does a great job finding like-minded individuals so it is easy to get along with everyone. Upper Management: As stated before, it is a busy environment. But Upper Management works hard to help you prioritize and attend to all your needs and concerns. They are family oriented, so it can be very flexible if you happen to have little children. They also work to accommodate any of your current life needs: I even had my bike trainer set up so I could train at lunch time for a triathlon! This all accepted and embraced, just make sure to work hard and prove your worth.

Cons

Could use better work-life balance, however, it is a growing company who is continuously looking to hire in order to lessen the load on employees. The product (a Integrated Marketing and Customer Acquisition Platform) has great potential, but employees would like to see better functionality of the systems prior to launching it to clients.
