Pros

pros is free food. Also good work life balance because products are not profitable which leads to no major development work.

Cons

Frequent Product Closures: Many departments and products at Rakuten are not profitable, leading to frequent team downsizing and even complete shutdowns of teams in India. No Job Security: Lack of job security due to frequent product closures and team downsizing. Frequent Internal Transfers: Employees often have to attend multiple interviews for internal job transfers. If no openings are found in their current domain, they may be forced to switch domains and learn new technologies. Constant Change: Employees may need to switch teams and tech stacks every year to survive, leading to a lack of continuity in work and skill development. No Profitability: If joining Rakuten, it’s crucial to aim for departments and products that are profitable to ensure better job security and growth opportunities. They Force work from office or apply leave for doing more than 2 days work from home, if you need to work from home you have to provide medical certificates. No cab facilities and proper transport.

Pros

Rakuten Rewards has great life balance. Too bad the economy was getting rocked.

Cons

Don't really have any cons. I understand that the market's been hard so had to downsize the force, so that was kinda challenging. Hopefully AI will increase everyone's output.
