Pros

Cons

Books are great for references but the President of this company is literally using a book to run the organization... "The 4 Disciplines of Execution". It’s literally driving the company into the ground. Let's start from the beginning shall we: - Restructuring of the company and upper management. Not one woman or person of color was on the new team. - Promoting the new team into departments they know nothing about. What does a Sales guy on Display know about SPIs? Or a Search Guy know about Affiliate? or an Affiliate guy about Sports Marketing (that guy left btw). - What the recruiter won't tell you- THEY ARE LAYING PEOPLE OFF! - Investing too much time on a poor product like Display but covering it up saying they are pushing Omni. They say they have other products but they honestly have Affiliate and a poor Display product because their Attribution doesn't really exist. - They are placing people in positions for jobs they know nothing about but expect the staff, who have been there for years, to train them on how to do the job - Tony Zito, CEO , loves to talk about himself but never gives any direction -Stuart Simms, President, has no real direction and is literally making it up as he goes along by using a book. The experienced and unpaid teams can tell its amateur hour with him. - Directors and Executives play favorites in an unprofessional way. They promote their friends and those who will gossip with them. I take offense to the review that stated if you can't be successful at Rakuten Marketing its your own fault. That's a complete lie. If you don't find success it's because of over compensated entitled executives who would rather put a pretty girl in a position she isn't meant for OR hire their pal.

Pros

Rakuten Rewards has great life balance. Too bad the economy was getting rocked.

Cons

Don't really have any cons. I understand that the market's been hard so had to downsize the force, so that was kinda challenging. Hopefully AI will increase everyone's output.

Pros

The company offers great benefits and perks, and the overall work culture can be fun and social. When I first joined, it felt like a positive place to work and a good environment to learn. It’s a solid company to start your career, especially if you’re early on and want exposure to the role.

Cons

While the experience started off strong, there was very little room for growth long term. Opportunities were not distributed equally across the team, and favoritism was noticeable at times. The same individuals were consistently praised for simply doing their jobs, while others’ contributions were rarely acknowledged. The team culture could feel very cliquey, and if you weren’t part of the “favorites,” it was difficult to be recognized or considered for new opportunities. Although leadership often spoke about internal growth and mobility, in reality those opportunities felt extremely limited. Once you’re placed on a team, it’s very hard to move into something new or grow beyond that role. This is a good place to start your career and gain experience, but not a place I would recommend staying long term. If you’re looking for growth, development, and mobility within the company, you may find yourself feeling stuck.
