I was told to 'clear the counter' when I was buying something. As a former staff member but also a customer, it was very rude. they did not acknowledge me or interact in a polite or professional manner. I don't expect to be friends with all, but if you're going to be rude, it doesn't mean everyone will actually listen to you being border line verbally abusive. you are made to do orders, check stock, merchandise, train, learn and be paid minimum wage with little hope of moving up. on my break, they came to berate me why i left things on the counter (they ignored me when i said i'd come back for it), even when they addressed it they raised their tone in a fastidious manner and i needed to immediately pay for my purchase. very unprofessional. interrupted 3 times on my break or having to wait 4 hours before I take the first break is unreasonable. one of them told me that they didn't get breaks at their old job (another RONA).. sometimes they don't even say hi to you. they order you around and they chastise over a folder not being neat. they are thankless. even if you go above and beyond. I think for the rest of my life, I would not shop or recommend this place due to the garbage I was subjected to. I wouldn't recommend working their either. manipulating people and taking advantage of them, not good. there are good points but unfortunately too much negative points; if you keep saying only negatives, verbally destroying or lying about opportunities. they don't understand that, they dont just affect me as an individual, they have lost their customer base with at least 300 other people I am friends with, family and acquaintances. That's pretty important to them, profit... not necessarily the workers' feelings or dignity apparently from that cashier experience. well... I can understand it's a hard job market out there but looking back, I should have applied to mcdonalds, at least they had more benefits.
