Good technology with bad management. Do not do the mistake of moving to San Diego for Qualcomm alone. - Staff Design Engineer Qualcomm Employee Review

Pros

Wireless technology. EDA tools. Computing infrastructure. Facilities.

Cons

Very long hours on the toll of work-life balance, which are going unappreciated. Talents are leaving the company while managers are lowering the bar to filled up number of racks. Management seems to not have the proper background or training to be in the positions that they are in. HR is small and seen as powerless. Managers rely on fear and negative reinforcement. Internal opportunity system is a second name to a null. At our semiconductors domain San Diego is almost a city of one company. There are other semiconductors/hightech locations with more and better companies.

Pros

Great design team. Learn a lot in the project. Great resources for self motivated technical improvement.

Cons

Big wave of talented engineers leaving in some critical departments. CEO lacks responsibility on the company development. CEO and CFO have been selling their stocks a lot every year.
