Pros

Very good work/life balance. Health Benefits are good. Some of the new groups have opportunities for growth. San Diego weather is awesome. If you want to join QCOM, look for groups working on emerging technologies.

Cons

Extremely challenging work environment with less career growth opportunities especially those working in very old departments in Qualcomm. Newer Technology group have good growth opportunities. Each department/ divisions have their own rules in terms of appraisals and promotions. Development and Core group employees have least career growth possible, Some Day this division will see high attritions. May be the senior management is greedy so they keep all the bonuses and promotions for themselves. Juniors Engineers are the worst hit.

Pros

Great benefits, the pay is like okay. Some cool reimbursement programs and health centers on campus

Cons

Career progression and culture varies extremely depending on department. Some parts almost set you up for failure and it's difficult to gain new skills. Lots of qualcomm teams are too scared to explore new technologies and migrate to state of the art services and are comfortable in sticking with old technology for familiarity. Also, HR does nothing if a coworker makes you uncomfortable.
