I met some very good people there. I met some "real" people there. They were earnest and devoted to their jobs. They were kind to each other and believed in the mission of the organization--which is a good one. They believe in a reasonable work-life balance and everyone chipped in to make the events a success--and they always were. There are some talented people there.

What seems at first to be an affirming and supportive environment for women in an office that is roughly 90% women is, instead, one of the most passive-aggressive places I've ever worked. The only thing real there is the need for the heads of departments to control their fiefdoms. There was not a lot of trust there. The place is like Italy before it unified.
