Pros

Honestly, some of the co-workers are the only thing help you cope with the blah working conditions. Most of the kids you get to work with are awesome. Close proximity to good food places for lunch, and very close to the Inner Harbor for break time. Good food from parties. You can pretty much set your schedule (but since you get paid kibbles it's the least they can do)

Cons

Very very low pay. 28 to 32 hour per week hour cap. You will be overworked and underpaid. Terrible benefits. No vacation/sick time. Expected to work extra events, but still get capped at said 32 hours. No overtime. No Holiday pay. Even at the full-time level things are not much better. Warning you will come across some terrible parents/teachers/and school groups. So if you don't have a tough skin about, you will be eaten alive. High Turn Rate! In my time at Port Discovery I could recall a time where we would average 2 to 4 people quitting a month. Some people have stayed less than a month, some less than a week, a few people quit their first day, or never showed up once they got the job. That says a lot. You will quickly find it's a dead end. Very political. When you could make more per hour working at Wal-Mart or just about anywhere else for that matter what's the incentive for staying?

Pros

Most coworkers are supportive and great to work with Working with kids is fun

Cons

Constantly cutting hours so we’re short staffed. It’s very stressful most of us are doing the work of 3-4 people. Favoritism is insane here. We’ve had the most useless coworker going on 2 years now and she’s still hanging around because she sucks up to Carter. She spends most of her time in the staff lounge. She’s also cursed out another coworker and somehow wasn’t fired. She never helps clean up at the end of the night and if she does it’s bare minimum. Management are ineffective at their jobs, we’ve brought up constant issues to Kathryn and has repeatedly been meant with her actually saying the word “shrug” and not actually doing anything to alleviate the situation. Constant stressful situations. Feels like management is looking for reasons to fire people who aren’t favored by Carter.
