Pros
The Design Team is very nice and great to work with. A few nice co-workers.
Cons
I am writing this HONEST review to sincerely help WARN potential employees here. I want to protect people from going through what I did. Consider this a public service to the workers of the Bay Area. Honestly. This place is INCREDIBLY disorganized and extremely TOXIC. There is NO open communication or transparency here. That is why the Chief Technology Officer quit suddenly and fled to the East Coast, because he could not deal with the chaos and craziness. No industry best practices are implemented or used at Plastiq, not Tech or Finance best practices. The Executive Team does NOT know what they are doing. They have NO expertise in building and launching REAL fintech products. They lie to you, and say that they are going to go public, and you will make millions in stock. This is ALL BS. The CEO's plan is to try and grow the user-base and then sell the company to Visa or MasterCard, or a Big Bank and collect all the money for himself. The CEO personally fired/pushed out his co-founder, who was his Harvard buddy.... Is that the kind of leader you want to work for? He says he has an "Open Door Policy." He does. If you say anything he doesn't like, you get KICKED out the Open Door!--with NO warning or reason given. The Engineering Team is composed of ALL Junior Engineers claiming to be Senior, but they do NOT know what they are doing and cannot even develope simple, basic e-commerce functionality which is essential for a Finance App, like log-ins and Account Management dashboards. ALL of the Engineers and Product/Project managers are deathly AFRAID of speaking up and saying anything because they are afraid of looking weak and getting fired. This is the same situation for Marketing and Product Teams. Nobody can contribute any ideas or suggestions, because they are afraid of getting pushed down, stabbed in the back, and/or fired. As a result, MAJOR problems and issues do NOT get resolved, because NOBODY talks about them! There is NO coaching from your manager, NO setting of expectations, NO introductions to the right players and people you need to work with. They have a "People Team" that does nothing to actually help the people working there. They simply lie to get people in the door, and then ignore them if they have any problems. There is NO feedback from your manager, NO performance reviews, and NO feedback provided to help you do your job better, not even informally. There is NO transparency and NO open communication. As a result, there is NO real collaboration, and no progress is made. I am being absolutely REAL and honest with this review, because I want people to KNOW what they are getting into before they accept an offer. After working at Plastiq, I can honestly tell you that 95% of the Glassdoor reviews are FAKE, and written by the RECRUITERS so they can lure you in. That is how they got me.
