Pros

Incredibly interesting high-yield debt transactions and niche public finance projects. The team is full of smart, driven individuals who are a pleasure to work with.

Cons

Leadership in the Special District Group, particularly at the top, often shows little regard for team well-being or professional collaboration. There is a consistent pattern of negative internal communication and a focus on personal accolades over team development. The culture is driven by fear and lacks transparency. Persistent turnover—especially among the executive assistants and junior level bankers supporting senior leadership—is telling and highlights the challenges of working under current leadership.

Pros

It's nearly impossible to get fired. After many years, the IT department has hired a diverse team. Coworkers were intelligent and ethical.

Cons

Unusual that, until after Covid, the IT department was about 95% Caucasian, but now the diversity seems to be due to the ability to lower salaries, and worsen work/life balance. Management will only promote yes-people, or hire from the outside. It's akin to working in IT in 1990s, there is little process or structure. Laptops weren't given to IT until after Covid (yes you read that right), and when they were handed out, they were the used laptops from revenue generating departments that had been upgraded. It was a very chaotic environment.
