Pros

Great culture, many of my coworkers are not the typical "investment banking" type... they are nice! Lean deal teams Given more responsibility from the start Compensation is on par with other banks. You actually make more because of the lower cost of living if you are at the HQ

Cons

Not an amazing brand/prestige Great exit opps may be more difficult to obtain Not huge deals, so what you are working on probably won't be in the WSJ or known by people outside of finance

Pros

It's nearly impossible to get fired. After many years, the IT department has hired a diverse team. Coworkers were intelligent and ethical.

Cons

Unusual that, until after Covid, the IT department was about 95% Caucasian, but now the diversity seems to be due to the ability to lower salaries, and worsen work/life balance. Management will only promote yes-people, or hire from the outside. It's akin to working in IT in 1990s, there is little process or structure. Laptops weren't given to IT until after Covid (yes you read that right), and when they were handed out, they were the used laptops from revenue generating departments that had been upgraded. It was a very chaotic environment.
