One of the standout pros is the direct managerial support, which is priceless if you are fortunate to have a good manager. The organization harbors a wealth of seasoned professionals who have been with the company for decades. Their experience is a rich resource, and the collaborative culture enables knowledge sharing, making the complex, multilayered organizational structure a learning playground. Leading cross-functional program teams and being a part of strategic initiatives were experiences that honed my leadership, project management, and change management skills.

Cons

On the flip side, Philips exhibits traits characteristic of a 'boomer company' with entrenched processes and bureaucratic hurdles. The procedural rigmarole often acts as a bottleneck, stifling swift decision-making and agility, which are crucial in today's fast-paced business environment. The company's traditional approach sometimes hampers efficiency and could benefit from a dose of modernization to shed some of the bureaucratic inertia.

Pros

Philips still has good people, meaningful healthcare technology, and a strong brand name. Many employees care deeply about the customers, the products, and doing quality work.

Cons

The company culture has gone downhill. Management has become increasingly reliant on spreadsheet-driven decision making that often has little connection to real field conditions, employee workload, or customer impact. Priorities and goals change constantly, creating a desperate, reactive environment where employees are not given enough time to adjust before leadership shifts direction again. Morale suffers because teams are expected to execute against moving targets while leadership treats unrealistic planning as an execution problem.
