Pros
employee discount. 3 weeks vacation from the start. Get to hang around with sometimes half nutty "pet parents" on a daily basis.
Cons
If you are going to interview for a Store Management position at Petsmart, I would HIGHLY recommend that you ask how many persons has held the position you are applying for and why they left. Then ask how many final action plans have you given to other managers. There is a reason they pay you well and give you so much vacation. its a trap.. heads up! you are held up to an extremely high expectation that is unattainable by most. Service sales are huge. if you cant convince someone to spend $119 on something they don't need (dog training classes), then stay away! If you dont want to spend an entire overnight or 2, or maybe 3 to "sweep" your entire store to prepare for a potential random audit during your days off or vacation, then DONT take this position. If you are told you will only work 45 hours a week, 1 Sunday a month, and rotate Saturdays, DONT believe it! Its a trap! you will work most weekends and 55-60 hours is more realistic. If you are told you are given an hour for lunch every day, that may be true, but good luck getting to take it! If you do take it, you will be frowned upon. If you are not "growing the basket", watch out for an action plan.. IE if 1 customer comes in every other week to purchase 1000 crickets, that will significantly impact your basket growth with that 1 customer. there is a "we love pets" attitude associated with the company. But how do you think Petsmart is able to keep such a consistent "supply" of small animals, reptiles, birds, fish, etc. in ALL of their stores. The exact same way puppy mills do.. Which petsmart strongly speaks against regularly. HYPOCRITES! PETA does not think highly of them at all. search it for yourself.
