Serious lack of training. Coming on as a manager, I did 4 days of computer work with 30 minutes of hands on training and that was it. It all depends on your store management how you get trained. I had zero petcare training and zero salon training. If it weren't for me taking massive initiative by researching animals and how to care for them on my personal time and spending lots of time observing associates and asking lots of questions, I would not be able to stay afloat in my current position. It all depends on your store, communication, great managers, and teamwork need to happen to have a successful store. Corporate doesn't like to communicate info down to the stores in a timely fashion. You can not order product, the warehouse sends what they feel they should send. We miss out on many sales because we don't have the inventory we need, very frustrating trying to explain this to a customer that doesn't want us to do a special order and hold product for them, but just wants more on the shelf for when they happen to come in. Way behind the times on IT, registers, iPads, computers are constantly down.
