Pros
Fun work environment; generous discount on some merchandise; flexible scheduling; great training in nutrition; get to see dogs all day
Cons
Upper management is too removed from the business to understand how to run it and therefore the rules put in place often hinder sales instead of boost them. Compensation for managers and associates is well below what it should be. Associates are expected to sell as if they work on commission but get minimum wage pay. Turnover is outrageously high. Bonus structure for managers is ridiculous. Managers only make base pay because the goals are unobtainable. Absolutely no work-life balance (despite what they tell you in the interview). Your days off are simply days that you work from home because you need to solve problems in your store any time of day or night. The merchandising is horrendous and the stores look cluttered because there is far too much product that doesn’t sell. Very little support from district managers as a whole. They’ll ask you to fix a problem with no guidance or help so you’re forced to find your own creative solutions but then you’ll get reprimanded for stepping outside of “company standards”. You can get reprimanded for taking a single breath out of line but never get rewarded for anything, ever.
