Pros

Pearson Corporate has good vision on education and in trying to attain the best methods for reaching students in every walk of life. Math school educational division is excellent to work with.

Cons

Extremely poor implementation of Pearson vision by educational divisions, both school and college. Communication by EVP and SVP management in the educational division is poor at best. They are excellent at managing their careers with no effective management of the division staff that they are responsible for and it is extremely hierarchical. Because of this lack of interaction they have no real understanding of what or who is working and what or who is not. Division is run by politics not sound business methods. Profits are maintained by lowering overhead not generating revenue, meaning cutting staff via constant reorgs and outsourcing. Staff has learned to keep their heads down and stay below the radar. This has lead to constant evaluations of process and delivery of educational content with little innovation since real innovation comes from a culture of engagement and safety, not fear. Staff has learned not to rock the boat.

Pros

When a project goes according to plan you can work with some great people and make decent money.

Cons

Bad behavior is tolerated when you have a weak team member. They are allowed to remain on payroll, even if they do not effectively contribute. The burden is often placed on the team members willing to pick up the slack. Promotions are not given to the most qualified. They are randomly assigned. There are some horrible scoring directors as a result.
