Pros

My training in payroll was fragmented, and within the US Taxation team, there was a noticeable lack of foundational knowledge. The primary focus was often on meeting targets rather than building a thorough understanding of the process.

Cons

Trust me this is one of the company where the Cons overshadows Pros, entertaining as well. The organization initially provided a solid foundation for my career. However, over time, I observed increasing biases in management, particularly in favor of those fluent in the local vernacular, which led to the exclusion of non-local employees from key discussions and opportunities. Many team members, including myself, felt that merit and client satisfaction were often overshadowed by internal favoritism. Some supervisors appeared to prioritize personal preferences over professional standards, which was especially disappointing given their roles in enforcing workplace ethics. Recent policy changes, including stricter dress codes, seemed reactive and disconnected from core performance metrics. While onshore teams maintained professionalism, the transition of projects to India often resulted in excessive control by local supervisors. I once proudly recommended the company to others. However, after working onsite, it became evident that the internal dynamics could be stifling, making long-term engagement challenging for those who value transparency and equal opportunity. Cross skilled in multiple processes we hardly work.

Pros

Paychex is a great company to work for. I’ve held multiple roles over 20+ years. There are always ups and downs, but for every position, manager, decision I disagree with, there are ten others that are outstanding.

Cons

It’s a large company with many opportunities to grow, but smaller companies may offer higher compensation.

Pros

Remote work and Flexible Time Off

Cons

Low pay. Minimal to no career growth. Constant leadership turnover. Conflicting priorities from the top with little strategic direction. Endless “do more with less” mentality and burnout. Mandatory culture and positivity “training” instead of fixing the problems creating poor culture. The company has become reactive, chaotic, and disconnected from the employees who keep it running. Current CEO drove down stock price and eradicated worker morale. Terrible leadership.
