      Pros

      I have been in Core Sales at Paychex for 10 years. I continue to work here due to the great products and services we offer and my ability to make a great living. Paychex also encourages a positive work/life balance which is great for a working mom. You are encouraged to develop a network of referral sources and now most of my business comes from that group of people.

      Cons

      It can take almost a year to get a full grasp of the products and services and the balance of prospecting, selling and calling on referral sources. Therefore, sometimes you may not see the benefits of the income until that time period. It is a very transactional sale with quite a bit of paperwork. Learning the balance can be difficult for some people.

      Pros

      Paychex is a great company to work for. I’ve held multiple roles over 20+ years. There are always ups and downs, but for every position, manager, decision I disagree with, there are ten others that are outstanding.

      Cons

      It’s a large company with many opportunities to grow, but smaller companies may offer higher compensation.

      Pros

      People and the overall environment is a positive one. If you do your part, definite long term career potential. It’s not easy- but stable, growing. Worth serious consideration for early career looking for sales experience with a great training program. Also good for mid-career consideration if base salary isn’t the primary reason you are in sales.

      Cons

      Very fast pace that doesn’t suit everyone. If you are looking for easy or just a job to “hang out”, this probably isn’t the right spot for you.
