Pros

It's not as strenuous as other facilities. Pretty light work load. You do more independent communication with hospitals and medication administration.

Cons

Management is somewhat racist. At least it was at the time I was working there. They are very cliqish and made the workplace very unpleasant for me. I loved the job until I got to know management. They actually had some lawsuits against them.

Pros

VIVA! philosophy, internal brand, focus on residents and training. I also like the opportunities to grow. There are lots of promotions that have taken place.

Cons

It's not against the company. It's finding the right people to deliver the standards that are in place.

Pros

It's a casual setting. Not too stiff. The pay is alright and the seniors are great! Co-workers are the same as anyplace else. Some you get along with and some are just regular chaos agents.

Cons

Racist Senior Management. Hardly a minority in sight when you visit the downtown office but plenty in lower paying subordinate positions. Yet minorities represent a huge portion of their residential census. The people chosen to occupy executive and corporate positions are not chosen based on their knowledge of the industry. They are chosen based on who they know and their skin color. Many state rules are being broken in order to fill each community to capacity. Some illegal activity has taken place as well. Bottom line is they don't really care about the people they provide a service to, although they pretend to. In essence it is really a nursing home without the proper staff to care for the residents. There really needs to be an organization to oversee such facilities besides the State of Illinois.
